The day was mixed and upsetting for Lee... She lost her flag(s) – she has flown the Thai flag in 15 countries, it was faded and tattered, however it held great sentimental value to her.. We asked a guy with a motorcycle to backtrack and look for it, Lee accompanied him for over two hours... but, to no avail... Life goes on.... The motorbike ran out of fuel and Lee had left her money with me... This family helped by giving Lee's driver some fuel... Completely humbled again.... We thank you all.....

Met this guy at breakfast, quite mad and a little worse for wear (Alcohol)... Harmless enough, we let him sit on Lee's bike...

Onward towards our goal for the day, we rode through the Thai army base... Great people, gave us waves and cheers...

.

Stopped for lunch and overstayed... again great people, great food and wonderful hospitality

that's about it for today... Catchya Later.....

The day started at the crack of dawn, before 7am.. We cycled north hoping to put some distance between us.. It was not to be.. Held up by people all along our route, for all sorts of reasons... Some pleasant some a little less than pleasant. One of the nice things was seeing a procession of Children fro many local schools engaged in a ceremony with a variety of themes...

Some of the boys are dressed in their school colours

Brass bands, which I love and lots of other musical marchers made for a fine procession, it was most enjoyable to watch...

We sauntered on up and down hills. On one of the downs I witnessed two girls fall off a motorcycle, that was coming down a steep gravel driveway.. I stopped and Lee was soon on the scene, a few scrapes and scratches, nothing serious – we offered “first aid” as we have a good kit... they both declined. After a long day but “moderate” ride we called in a nice looking motel...

The rooms are very nice at only a little over $17.00 with all the trimmings it is exceptional value – our room is brand new!!!

that's about it for today... Catchya Later....

Managed to find internet for 15 minute's en-route to Surat Thani... The last large town we stayed at, had no public internet and we could find no “WiFi” We were able to send few replies – sorry to all of you. Up to the city limits we were averaging over 17.5 kph... An incredible improvement on average speed since reducing our “combined” weight by 22 kilograms, back in Had Yai. On hilly terrain we have spent more than 6 hours travelling 43.5 kilometres. Met this cyclist who was totally amused by our bikes.....

Stopped for lunch in the outskirts of Surat Thani... at a new roadside café on it's opening day... The food on special was “Chicken Rice” as you all can see from the sign..... You can read that? :-)

We are now in Surat Thani and plan a rest day tomorrow... It is too large a town to not be exploring :-) Catchya Later.....

The “mind” is often willing but the body says no.... Most touring cyclists know this and it is often more productive to listen to ones body. A rest day allows the muscles to recuperate and repairs one better for the days ahead. The upper body does not get much of a work out, a light training session in the gym tones this part of the body....

However if I breath out................... Well!!!! :-)

Many of the clothes we wash at night, do not get the opportunity to dry completely due in part to the high humidity... Occasionally they develop mould and smell bad.. A rest day lets us wash and dry all our gear... Plus other odds and ends... Catchya Later....
